Inclusion models and resources for Vocational Education and Training students at risk of dropping out
[2020-1-ES01-KA202-082301]

The issue of school dropout in the European Union is undoubtedly critical and multifactorial, as highlighted in your description.
The challenges in initial vocational training, in particular, raise important questions about our ability to support students from challenging backgrounds, including immigrants.
Solving the dropout problem is not only about the future of students, but has significant implications for the entire educational community.

Start: October 10, 2020 - duration 24 months - concluded in 2023

The European Union records a high rate of school dropout, with significant differences between countries. This situation is not always exclusively associated with the learning difficulties of students, but often depends on social, motivational, and even family factors, which go beyond the educational sphere alone. This phenomenon occurs more frequently at certain levels, such as initial vocational training, where students have specific characteristics that make them more vulnerable to school dropout and problematic behaviors.

Students at this level often come from previous failed educational experiences, and in many cases present learning difficulties, but also behavioral and coexistence problems such as academic failure, low motivation, drug use, violence, bullying, and more. Additionally, immigrant students at this level of training are especially represented.

This situation directly impacts teachers, staff, and other students, and can lead to a vicious cycle of discomfort and conflict that significantly reduces the quality of training. Additionally, these students are highly vulnerable and at risk of school dropout and failed educational (and professional) integration. We are therefore faced with a problem that requires an integrated approach with multiple dimensions.
The objectives of InVET Inclusion models and resources for VET students at risk of drop-out include:

  • Combating the exclusion factors that lead i-VET students to leave school.
  • Providing vocational training centers, their managers, teachers, and staff with examples of success and tools that allow the transfer of these initiatives into their specific contexts.
  • Offering a comprehensive analysis of a complex problem, involving multiple factors and dimensions, which must be addressed from a global perspective.
  • Creating a set of tools and resources that, with a practical approach, offer intervention models at various levels: pedagogical, organizational, logistical, etc.
  • Contributing to a better understanding of the European reality regarding school dropout and its causes, so that this vision can be used and transferred to other educational sectors.

If you are looking to combat school dropout and improve the quality of vocational training, our project offers an integrated and comprehensive approach that will help you achieve these goals.
